As a certified Health Coach, I view health holistically and guide you in your pursuit of greater physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and wellness. My role is not prescriptive but to help you identify the obvious and less obvious contributors to your current state of wellness.
I'm here to provide guidance to you in learning bio-individual choices and health approaches and help you tap into your own internal wisdom to increase your self-knowledge about what is contributing to your current health state. I will also empower you to transform your life by implementing small changes that are sustainable long-term while being heard and supported throughout the process.
Nothing takes you away from healthy habits like the ups and downs of life! I have been in the corporate business world for 30+ years while being a breadwinner, wife, and mother and have dealt with my share of stress, loss and unexpected life changes. I know about eating for convenience and comfort, and the tendency to put oneself and health dead last on the priority list.
I’ve dealt with multiple issues including yo-yo dieting and weight gain, decline in physical health associated with poor diet (hormone imbalance, inflammation, acid reflux), as well as stress, self-abandonment, loss in confidence, self-limiting beliefs and bouts of depression. I was still living my life successfully from all outside appearances, but my quality of health and life suffered. I wondered how I got so far from the self I used to know.
I fought my way through food addiction. My experience and journey shifted when I learned how to eat clean and make portion control and food prep an easy process to adapt into my busy life. I reduced my weight by 70lbs in 10 months, experiencing massive weight loss and all the physical and emotional benefits that came with it. I was so happy with the results of my lifestyle changes; I promised I would never go back to my old ways… ONLY to gain half of my weight back. I had only taken care of part of the problem, the food part. I had not taken care of the other parts of my health that needed an overhaul.
As a graduate of the IIN® Health Coach Training Program, I learned how holistic health is multidimensional and encompasses physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being and that health and the path to becoming healthy is different for each individual. That started my journey towards healing and balance.
This learning experience allowed me to take a long hard look in the mirror of where I was unhealthy in ALL of these areas and how unaware I was about my own contribution. It now made sense that I couldn't keep up my physical health when that was the only area of health I was focused on. I needed to take a hard look at my history and years of habits that brought me to the present moment and what drove me to those unhealthy eating habits.
I refocused on health and healing in all areas to invest in a happier and sustainably healthy me and future. I learned that all change starts with a mental shift. We have to change our minds, be aware of the effects of our choices and be intentional to change our priorities, habits, practices and find balance in our lives for the long-term. I learned that true health is not about a specific number on the scale but more the quality of your life in all areas and peace you hold around it.
